An official document[1] reviewed by the Uyghur American Association (UAA) lays out the importance of local officials’ propaganda work in the process of resettling residents of Kashgar’s Old City.

The Uyghur American Association (UAA) is concerned that the Chinese government is promoting ethnic and gender discrimination in hiring practices in East Turkestan (also known as Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, or XUAR, in northwest China) at the same time it promotes an official policy of “sustainable economic development and harmonious ethnic relations.”
The Uyghur American Association (UAA) is extremely disturbed about the demolition of Kashgar’s Old City, the home of more than 200,000 Uyghurs and an ancient cradle of traditional Uyghur culture, which appears to be reaching a critical and irreversible stage.
